doing a test export now, but I’m still locked into medium quality. I do however now have the ability to add an alpha channel. Which does me absolutely no good, since I’m delivering final segments.

We’ll see what this looks like, hopefully medium quality is good enough, I’m not holding my breath though.

    Good to know.

Luckily, I still have my MacBook Pro setup, so I will transfer QTs over to it and export the DNx files. Cause, like most posts here…..I’m on a deadline and have to deliver by wednesday for broadcast.

So far, 2 projects on new system and this is the first problem I’ve run into with QT 7.4.
(once I did a clean instal on a new computer)
    (knocking on wood….)

    dang it all.

I thought I was one of the lucky ones that wasn’t having any trouble with my new setup, clean installs all around.

I even bragged elsewhere on the forum that my system was working (even specified that I had qt7.4 in that post.

    again….

    dang it all!!!!

    Hey Walter,

I’m having trouble finding any information about whether DNx is compatible with Leopard.

If it wasn’t leopard-ready, wouldn’t I have more trouble than it just being lower quality than I’m used to seeing?
It seemed to have installed just fine,
My issue is that I don’t have the ability to change the quality from medium to best.

Anyone used the avid codecs in Leopard yet?

    no, I reinstalled Leopard.
I assumed that cause they told me it would come pre-installed, that it would. No it came with Tiger on it. I slapped FCS2 on it, then realized that I was in Tiger. I installed Leopard on top, it was really unstable. so I did a clean instal of Leopard and now things are rock solid.

There are so many variables that this is not really a fair question. Most everybody gets different results.

I recently got my MacPro octocore (ordered a few days before Leopard release), they told me it would come pre-installed with Leopard. After reading all the horror stories, I was very nervous. I finally got all the pieces for my edit suite and in a frenzy loaded all my software.
Then I realized that Leopard didnt look any different than Tiger. Well, it wasn’t pre-installed, but they had the install disk included, so I slapped it on. Ran a bunch of test and got very unstable results. Many issues including locking up. So since it was a new machine, no need to back up, I did a erase and install of Leopard, then leapfrogging with repair permissions, and system updates. Now everything is rock solid, including QT7.4 (my Batch monitor works fine).

Practice safe upgrading-clone-repair-clean install-repair-system update (be educated on this, don’t automatically update everything).
I have found that regularly repairing permissions, and every other month or so, I’ll boot into safe mode and repair permissions, seems to keep my mac happy.

Just thought of this too. You could have some problems with render corruption.

delete all the renders for this project, then re-render everything.

sounds like you have some corruption.
do a search to find out how to trash your preferences.

I assume you have check marks in the appropriate places under
    sequenece/render/render all/render only

Hang in there, I was on the AVID for several years, and fought the changeover, but I’ll never go back. I had several problems on regular basis with AVID too. We work on computers, and guess what, computers have (and develop) problems.

Consult t he cow, listen to the gurus, and move on to finish your project so you can get to the important part…..invoicing!

    Bob-

If I put another firewire 800 controller card in my MacPro, I should be able to use Lacie firewire drives, right?

I’m a couple days into getting my system running properly, WITH a sonnett controller card and a few 800 firewire drives daisy chained. Everything seems to be working ok.

Most of my stuff is on a firmtek Sata, and will be on, newly purchased Lacie Biggest s2s.
