I think that you could accomplish this with time-remapping and Hold keyframes.

To make each frame of the video look crisp like a photograph shot with a fast shutter—like in the example clip—you should shoot to get as little motion blur as possible, meaning a low shutter angle.

I think that Filip did a good job of summarizing. There are a few good online resource for learning expressions. I find that that it’s useful to work my way way through some examples when learning a new language or set of tools.

I think that you’ll find that people on this forum (especially Filip and Dan) are very good about answering the specific questions that come up as you’re learning, as long as you’re also putting forth the effort to teach yourself.

Regarding making lights less intense with greater distance from the source: This is usually called ‘light falloff’. Here is a Community Help search for ‘light falloff’ that pulls up a few pages with workarounds for simulating light falloff.

Yes, you can copy and paste keyframes from one layer to another, even if the layers are in separate compositions.

If the animations that you’re copying and pasting are more complex, or if you think that you’d like to save them for later use, you can save them as animation presets.
