The iMac GPUs (GTX 675MX and 680MX) have been added to the list of GPUs that After Effects CC (12.1) will use for GPU-acceleration of the ray-traced 3D renderer.

That page says that we’re still testing GPUs for After Effects CC (12.1). I have a Mac Edition GTX 680 on my desk right now, and it’s the next one that I’m testing.

I’ve seen many reports of people having trouble like this when updating CUDA drivers and then not restarting their computers so that the CUDA driver update can take full effect. Try that.

This card is still on the whitelist for CUDA acceleration of the ray-traced 3D renderer for After Effects CC (12.0).

My guess is that After Effects is falling back to the CPU because you don’t have enough VRAM free.

Show a screenshot of yoir GPU Information dialog box in After Effects.

September 11, 2013 at 6:05 am in reply to: After Effects Truncating Layer Names

The 31-character limit was removed for many things in After Effects CC (12.0), as part of the same wave of fixes that we did to make non-English characters work in layer names, etc.
