I once had a Canon GL2 which I took out to a gig (it was a 2nd camera) and couldn’t record no matter what I did. After panicking, freaking out and doing everything I could to cover the job with one camera, I returned back to the office and shipped it to Canon to fix. They e-mailed me back a few days later and explained I needed had moved the lever around the record button to “lock”, which kept the state of the button locked. I mean, the darn lever was right in front of me, blatantly in the lock position and I couldn’t fix it… I never felt more dumb hahaha

Team render advancements sound great–I’m really hoping they set that up properly. Also addressing/fixing the glitches within Physical renderer (such as setting the scale to a -1 via MoGraph and a few others I’ve encountered along the merry way….)
All in all, sounds like it will be fun!

  • Really no help, but I’ve got the same on this end. Simple dissolves aren’t coming over.

June 11, 2014 at 1:40 pm in reply to: 10.9.3?

Yeah, stay away from it. I mean, stay as far away from it as possible. I’ve got 2 machines running it in my office and 7 that are not. I’m not sure what went wrong, but there are issues with Adobe and 10.9.3. On the one machine (used primarily for video/animation/3d), renders will come out choppy, artifact lines throughout, and Media Encoder will just not work after doing one or two renders. The 2nd machine (mainly used for graphics) has had nearly the same issues but on Photoshop, Flash, InDesign, etc. Files corrupting, deleting, lines running through the photo, even this crazy text thing where it’ll be black and when you click it, it turns it’s proper color.

Oh, and btw, any machine NOT running 10.9.3 does NOT have any of these problems.

We’ve tried turning off the GPU rendering but issues still persist. Run, dude, run. Stay the heck away from it.

    Hope this helps

From what I’ve seen, you may just have your sampling quality (under the Physical tab) a bit too high. If this is your completed render size (130×83), then having it up to high quality is a bit overkill. Medium quality will probably give you comparable results at less than half the time. The completed image is too small to notice all the fine details.
Also, it seems for the most part you have a lower poly count which is good. You could also lower the edge beveling on some things, which is where the renderer slows a bit.

    Hope this helps!

I don’t think that’ll work. You can always try and see what happens, but more than likely it will present you with the license box.

This effect was most likely done in an external 3d program. I’m not sure if you’d be able to recreate it in C4d lite, but it can be done in C4d. Here’s this: https://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/tutorials/how-to-make-the-the-discovery-channel-rebrand-cube-transition-effect-with-cinema-4d/

You can make a preview movie, similar to a RAM preview…. Option/Alt + B will bring up the Make Preview window in which you can simulate the full render with variables such as range, size…etc.

  • We ordered a 12 core D700 from Tech Depot (Office Depot) late Jan and it hasn’t shipped yet. No word, actually. Everyday it’s a big question of if it’ll just show up, but I’m not holding out hope….

Interesting workaround. I went with the display tag and turning off visibility for the first 2-4 frames of the effector animation, but I’ll have to check out the motion vector pass as well. It’s as if we don’t have enough issues to work with (like figuring out how to take a black screen and make it “awesome” for each client every day…) LOL Hopefully Maxon will fix this little quirk quickly! 🙂
