did you ever figure this out? i’m currently gravitating into Premiere from FCP 7 and trying to figure out my logging workflow.

[Todd Kopriva] “Sorry, but can you confirm that you’re running Premiere Pro CS5.5 (5.5.1). “

confirmed. i downloaded it from Adobe.com and installed. when i open Premiere Pro it says “version 5.5.1”

i even exported a fresh XML from FCP 7 to test it and the sequence crashed in Premiere Pro on playback.

thanks for checking on this, Todd. i was hoping the 5.5.1 update would solve my problem.

in other news – apparently FCP X just updated to support XML.

[Todd Kopriva] “Install the Premiere Pro CS5.5 (5.5.1) update. It includes fixes for crashes related to FCP XML interchange.”

i’d already updated Premiere Pro to no avail.

after some investigating, i realized the 720p Prores sequence from FCP became a Sony XDCAM sequence in Premiere. if i created a new sequence based on one of the clips and copied the clips from the problem sequence into it, i could play without crashing. it’s a slightly irritating workaround, but at least i’m not screaming at my system any more. don’t know if the issue is on FCP’s end or Premiere’s, but it’s caused quite a headache.
