As I said, I can see it working as a switcher for on the fly cutting from one camera to another but as I also said that is just the very beginning of most multicam workflows, not the end. Also I do not have to pre-designate angles. In a properly organized world that is done in production.

Thanks for the link, Steve. It looks to me that no matter how you slice it Apple would have to modify the magnetic timeline is some way to accommodate track like behavior,

Maybe I don’t fully understand (and it wouldn’t be the first time) but I don’t see how you can have a magnetic timeline and tracks. Any tracks option would have to disable the magnetic timeline wouldn’t it?
I don’t necessarily hate the idea of a magnetic timeline – When I work in Avid I almost always have the sync locks on which is at least half a magnetic timeline) but I just don’t see how the tracks would work without being able to, at least partially, disable the magnetic timeline.

No, it’s not a bad idea at all. But right now what I need is not there to purchase from third parties. I think the big question is how long people are willing to wait.

And I’d buy you dinner too. Whether you get it or not.

Interesting. I only used it once and it work well for me. Now you have me wanting to try it again to see if my positive experience was the exception rather than the rule.

There has been a treble clef, a bass clef, a staff, and a time signature for centuries. No one has repurposed the clefs, eliminated lines of the staff, or changed the value of the notes.

And just by the way, tuning is a very personal pursuit.

First and foremost it is not about the individual instrumentation it is about the orchestra. And point me toward any scholarly discussion about chamber music or any other kind of music that diverges significantly from current (and I mean right now) music notation. This is all about a language that everybody understands. Tell me definitively that what Mozart wrote over two hundred years ago should be played any differently now.

You responded to something way down a thread. But if you don’t get it by now then music has had conventions for a thousand years. Any musician understands them. No one is changing them. No one has changed them for a very long time. What part of that do you not understand?
