Is autosave interval definable? If not do you know how often it saves?

I know. I’m cursed (blessed, I guess) with doing all sorts of work. I’ve pretty much determined that X is not suitable at this point for long-form work but it might be a valid choice for quick turnaround short form work. I’m for using tools that facilitate a given task. If X ends up being the best choice for a particular task, I’ll be in.

Has anyone determined if the “file bloat” issue has been addressed in this release?

Me too. Not because of the 3D but because the couple of times I used it I found it to be the most intuitive, fluid NLE I’d ever worked with. I’m rooting for them to make it happen.

Any fair use case is directly related to how good your lawyer is.

Yes, as long as someone – anyone, for any reason – is handing them more green. Anyone without significant funds would be really screwed. Forty years ago our government realized that this could happen and placed real and necessary curbs on radio and TV.

I know what you mean. Recently someone called me to ask how to to accomplish a particular function in FCP 7 that she was used to doing with MC. I confidently told her it could not be done in Final Cut, hung up the phone and then almost immediately realized that while talking to her my fingers, entirely of their own volition, had performed the very function in FC that I had just assured her could not be done.

No, as with most things in Avid the sync locks are track dependent.

Avid has had sync lock forever. You can turn it on and off.

A number of independent producers and production companies were using FCP 7 and while it seemed to have a bit more of a foothold on the east coast, institutionally you are quite correct. The FCP presence there was (and is) minimal.
