Try to set the R3D in Davinci to “RedLogFilm” and then export to EXR.

To be hosest: i am not 100% sure this is correct, we are still checking it, but where quite successful with it so far.

We will now test ACES and open-colorIO, lets see where this leads us…

    Hi Gary,

sorry for the slow response and thank you for the feedback.

I really thought that the software only tells the card what to do (setting wise) and it keeps that setting until you change it (that´s how our ioHD works). I was under the impression that all the conversion is done by the cards hardware only and it would not matter if there is a software controlling it or not (like the the blackmagic ultrascope which is looping sdi video through even if the software is not running).

I know that monitoring in 4:2:2 is not the same as 4:4:4, i was just hoping that the luminance levels would not be affected and that´s the most important part…(we just cannot afford a 4:4:4 scope at the moment)

    Thank you,
    Timor

    no need to reshoot.
if you have a “clean frame” of the BG you can pull a “difference key”.

the BG needs to be static in this case, because the difference key is keying parts that are different from the plate that you supply.

once you have extracted the FG person (try to soften the mask to avoid flickering) you can apply the blur.

to get a good looking defocus, i recommend a plugin-set like sapphire that supplies a proper “rack defocus” blur.

    hope this helps,

    hi luke,

    thank you for the link.
i am afraid that everthing with the name “scenarist” in it´s title is out of reach budget wise…;-)
but i´ll try to get a demo nonetheless.
will let you know how it goes.

    thanks,

glad to hear you think raid 5 is a good option. if we can afford it we will definitely buy another fibrenetix and stripe them (maybe even with tiger new “poolIT”?). a second switch as failover would be definately nice too…

we are just about to order another two licences of metasan (+ 2 atto

    hi gary,

yeah, it will take a while but using metaLAN the throughput is actually quite ok (around 70-90 MB/sec).

we will have appr. 20min of HDSR-footage that will be roughly 300GB.(15 GB/min).

might take a while to transfer but we
