The default number of undo levels is 50. You can change it by increasing the History States value in Preferences > General.

The reason it appears that you only have one undo state is because the CMD+Z shortcut toggles between Undo and Redo. To undo more than one step, use OPT+CMD+Z (on Windows, ALT+CTRL+Z). That’s the shortcut the “Step Backwards” command under the Edit menu. You can also just use the History palette to select a previous state.

If you’re not happy with those keyboard shortcuts, you can always change them (make CMD+Z the “Step Backwards” command, for example) by going to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts.

Yeah, there’s a few stock photos hanging around on the install disc and in the sample folder (inside the application folder), but the impression I got was that Joshua thought Photoshop came with some large stock photo library. My assumption is that he was unclear on what the Adobe Stock Photo service actually is.

Creative Suite doesn’t come with stock photos. It comes with a service called Adobe Stock Photos which allows you to browse and purchase stock photos from multiple stock photo publishers.

Open Adobe Bridge and click on the Adobe Stock Photos icon in the Favorites panel. That will take you to the service.

1) Hold down the CTRL key. (I think. Might be ALT.) Premiere Elements defaults to ripple editing with it’s tools, and holding down the modifier will change it to trim mode. Premiere Pro is the opposite way- it defaults to trim editing, but holding the modifier changes it to ripple.

2) Use Page Up and Page Down to navigate between cuts on the timeline.

Can’t say I’ve used less than 1 GB with Premiere Elements, but the obvious expectation is slower performance. Basic editing should be fine, but playback could suffer once you start to add a lot of effects or titles, and rendering will be slower.

That’s really your only option is to render out of AE and bring it into Premiere. Make sure you render a file that matches your project settings in Premiere (for example, if you’re using DV settings in Premiere, use the DV settings or presets in AE).

Use the Clone Stamp tool in AE. That’s what it’s there for.

Yes. Yes you will.

AE is not an editing application. You can edit things together, but it doesn’t have editing tools like an NLE. And AE doesn’t have a real-time playback engine, which will drive you nuts when you want to play back a five minute sequence to see how it’s coming together.

Do your cut in Premiere or whatever editing app you do. Send individual clips (or groups of clips if they have similar needs) over to AE for effects, then bring them back. If you have Adobe Production Studio, you have the new Dynamic Link feature, which makes this workflow much more flexible.

Yes, though Windows is limited to 2 GB per app. There is a way to increase it to 3 GB, but it can potentially cause stability issues. The 64-bit version of Windows has a much higher limit, but very few applications are written for 64-bit.

This is normal. Although Mac OS can use a lot of RAM (16GB? I forget the max), it can only allocate about 3.5 GB of RAM to each application. And more of that is lost to OS overhead, so your effective RAM allocation per application is about 2.5-3 GB.

So what’s the point of having more than 4 GB if that’s the case? Mac OS can allocate 3 GB of RAM to EACH application, so you could have Photoshop, AE, FCP, and other apps open at the same time using 3 GB RAM each, as long as you have enough RAM for all to take the maximum.

Let’s start with the basics. (And, to be honest, I have to chide you here. You should really start your posts with these sort of things. We shouldn’t have to ask for them.)

First, what version of Premiere are you using?

Second, what are you trying to do? I assume you’re exporting MPEG, but be explicit. What settings are you using?

Third, what have you done to try and solve the problem? You said you tried “everything”, but that’s not very descriptive. You said you “updated”, but not knowing what version you are using we don’t know what update you applied. I’m assuming that you have seen this:
