Very odd. I’ve got no issues with any media in Finder. Maybe migrating the apps didn’t really get the job done for you. What happens if you uninstall and reinstall Flip4Mac and Compressor?

Are you sure that your preview tool is working under Mavericks? QT doesn’t preview WMV’s so you must have a third party CODEC installed. I use Telestream’s Flip4Mac and the latest version works properly for me on my rMBP and my Mac Pro 4,1.
Also, is Spotlight enabled for your drive(s)? That’s what Finder uses to preview things.

@Don – some have been reporting that the upgrade process put them in this same sort of situation – lag, sluggishness, old stable apps flaking out.
In every case that I’ve tracked, by performing a bare metal reinstall of Mavericks (use this method if you want to create a flash drive or DVD: https://osxdaily.com/2013/06/12/make-boot-os-x-mavericks-usb-install-drive/) followed by reinstalling your apps has resulted in a new amazed convert to the goodness that is Mavericks.

Hi David,
I’m heading for SMPTE Hollywood, so might be hard to reach. Please be sure to open a ticket with our support team and they’ll help determine what’s occurring – support.bru.com.

Hi Neil,
First – be sure to open a ticket with our support team (support.bru.com).
We have had reported issues with the estimate pass getting confused and appearing to hang, and I know that that code was completely rewritten for 3.1 because we uncovered an NSTask race condition in the current code. We’ll be launching BRU PE 3.1 after SMPTE, so I’ll post another note here when you can grab the new build.

If you can get the images into a single image with the white area converted to transparent (alpha), you can add the image to your project on top of a blank white segment of the proper length (or whatever color that you need) and then set the blend mode to “Silhouette Alpha” at 100%
Of course, Photoshop would be the real hero in this case…

Please advise. To further clarify my “more problems” comment – I’ve had 1 Transcend fail compared to 4 SanDisk and 2 Sony with my favorites being the Lexar and Kingston brands (0 failures on either). This is over 8 years of CF card use in both cameras and computers.

October 14, 2013 at 6:48 pm in reply to: 5D Mark II – Can’t get content off of new card. Please advise.I don’t know your initialization process for new cards, but I always start by reformatting the card in the camera and then shoot 5 minutes of video using a white balance card. This usually identifies issues with the cards (I have far more problems with SanDisk 32GB cards) immediately. I then set them up for Magic Lantern in my Mac and things work pretty smoothly after that.
In my experience, CF cards fail almost immediately if there is a potential issue rather than after a few weeks of shooting.

October 14, 2013 at 6:31 pm in reply to: 5D Mark II – Can’t get content off of new card. Please advise. That sounds like a bad card. If OS X won’t see it at all, the card is not identifying itself. Can we assume that the camera works properly with other cards?
Unfortunately, Transcend won’t assist as they only replace the card and won’t even try to get data off of the bad one.
I use the Transcend cards in a lot of different cameras and I’ve only had 1 fail when new, so don’t lose faith in the Transcend brand.
