ok – I did it! Thanks for sending that file – it really helped to see how you did it….
I actually did mine without masking anything out – I just put the pattern layer underneath the center post.
Here is my video.

NTSC means “Never The Same Color” – haha – I’ll try to remember that, but they are pretty much telling us not to use NTSC settings anymore. ( I am taking classes at a community college.) I have to set this site so that it emails me when someone replies – thanks for your replies – I will see if i can figure some of it out the next time I’m in After Effects! (I’m in my Web Design class now! – don’t even get me started on that Pandora’s Box of Madness…)

Thanks Erik! The way you described is exactly what I ended up doing – it looks pretty cheesy but kind of works. I only used four images of my head – front, back and sides – probably would look better if i used more but I really don’t have the time.
I did not shoot them on a green screen – I magic wanded the background out of each image in Photoshop.File not found – Bad serial number – the problem could be this, that or the other…

March 8, 2012 at 3:04 am in reply to: Render movies with a transparent backgrounds (how to)I was having this same problem and it seems everyone just told the guy to read the manual. So – if you too have this problem, when you go to render the composition, under Output Module click “Lossless”,
Under Video Output under Channels, choose RGB + Alpha. it works!File not found – Bad serial number – the problem could be this, that or the other…

Thanks for the answers everyone! it turns out the Photoshop document was in CMYK . It worked perfectly fine after I changed it to RGB.

Thanks guys – ooo it’s sounding a little above my abilities, but I’m going to give it another try. Some of those branding videos are hilarious!

November 14, 2011 at 6:32 pm in reply to: How would you make this 70’s style groovy star?Ok well, I’m getting better at it – still not perfect and would love to know if there is a faster – more precise way to do this. This time I drew the center circle and a circle for one of the outer arms – then with the pen tool drew the connections from outer circle to inner circle. – This is the hardest part to get perfect.
Then I used the rotate tool (360/6) to copy and distribute the other 5 arms evenly around the circle. Then for the inner ‘scoops’ I made small circles and placed them between the tangents – but i had to make some of them different sizes to fit right so it isn’t precise.
Here is the result.

Any better way to do this?
