    Thank you for all the suggestions. We’re going to try the PCI F800 card first, if that has issues, then 2 500GB SATA drives, then on to GRaid but hopefully the Lacie’s on a separate FW800 card will do the trick.

    Our plan for next year is to put in an xraid via fibre but need a short term solution. I read your review on the G-raid drives and if I read it correctly, you are suggesting that we get two G-Raid drives, stripe them and run them off the F800 port on the G5 to get 10 bit uncompressed? No need for an extra card?

    One thing you might try if you have another audio recording/editing program (protools, logic)… try playing back the file and capture it in the audio program, then make an aiff or mp3 and bring in the files separately (mov conversion and aiff or mp3) and re-align in final cut.

    I also use the conversion tool Procoder…for some reason it seems to split out the two tracks (unlike compressor or cleaner) and make a quicktime movie that imports fine.
