I have an mpg file that I downloaded off the internet and I want to burn it to dvd and add some stuff to it in final cut. The Onl problem is that the way it was encoded (im guessing) made it so that it is only one track, just video. Its a music video clip so it is important to have both audio and video. I tried converting it in quicktime and in compressor but it never was able to transfer the audio. I dont really know what to do now. Thanks

It never lets me, whenever i try to go to an export menu in any program it just acts as if there is no audio

One thing you might try if you have another audio recording/editing program (protools, logic)… try playing back the file and capture it in the audio program, then make an aiff or mp3 and bring in the files separately (mov conversion and aiff or mp3) and re-align in final cut.

I also use the conversion tool Procoder…for some reason it seems to split out the two tracks (unlike compressor or cleaner) and make a quicktime movie that imports fine.

hey there, i just found your thread on creative cow and was wondering if you ever solved your problem with the audio and the .mpg. I am also having that problem and can’t seem to find a way around it. I tried FCP, QT and Peak so far but no audio. do you have any insight into getting the audio from mpg? thanks!
