    Darren,

Thanks for the info. I am completely up to date with all my software, still no luck. Dreading another re-install, will hold off for now as the function is not crucial for me currently.

    alex,

You can say that again. When I first upgraded to FCP back in Dec. I could not get it to ingest my hmc150 footage, I worked with apple support for about a week and half on and off. Finally after about my 3rd reinstall it started functioning. Very odd, but I guess this just shows ya that even mac’s are not perfect. 🙂 I’ll patiently wait for some guidance on this …:)

alex, I have been thinking of going with another product for this pupose, I would like to monitor on a 1080P HD Set. Any recommendations?

    Alex,

I too am having the exact same problem. It worked fine, then I tried monitoring externally using a Canopus ADVC110. Suddenly things started going south, I can view individual frames, but no live motion.

  • Scott or anyone else, I have another questions that relates to a certain degree. I shot a school play for my daughters first grade class with my Panny AG-HMC150 at 1080/60i. I have compressed using Pro Res and edited in a matching sequence. Everything looks good on a regular CRT which of course is interlaced and matches my 60i. The problem is when I play it on a my 53″ Samsung or any other HiDef T.V. for that matter. I’ve have been seaching or some time and there are many opinions, etc. I realize there is a deinterlace filter in FCP and I will try that tonight, but I was wondering if you have found any tried an true methods to making the footage look good on a progressive HiDef set after burning it to SD DVD. My problem is any panning motion looks terrible. Thanks in advance

    Vik,

I have been having similar problems for a couple weeks and have yet to get FCP to ingest anything that works. 1080P crashes the application completely and 720p will capture, but the audio is out of sync (video speeded up). Apple shipped me Leopard as I was on Tiger and it still doesn’t work. I have no idea where to go from here. I probably have spent hours on the phone with apple and they can’t figure it out either.

    Matthew,

I am having the same exact problems (see my post, before yours) I’ll let you know if I get anywhere on this. I’m waiting on responses and am considering a restore on my Mac Pro. I am also looking into possible firmware issues? I haven’t found many others having this issue. Are you up to date on FCP 6.0.5? What are the specs on your machine

  • Masud,

Hey, I was hoping you might be able to give me some insight as I am about ready to pull all my hair out.. 🙂

I have a MacPro duo 2.66 mhz. I have an internal Seagate 750 GB scratch drive, of which about 350gb is taken already. I also have an external that is not really being used. Regardless, I have had no luck ingesting anything successfully. Can you let me know exactly what your settings were when you ingested your footage? When I try any 1080, even in the lower quality modes FCP crashes. I have tried it off the camera directly and off my hard drive after copying it off the card with the same results. I can see it in the log and transfer window fine and it plays fine there. When I capture it though it plays twice the speed as you reported before.

I am thinking of backing what stuff I need to save and restoring my machine to it’s out of the box state? Any help would be much appreciated.

A few bits of info that may help diagnose the issue/s. Anytime I tried to ingest 1080, FCP would crash.
I even tried ingesting HA and HG and again it would crash. The 720 I can get in, but the audio and video are way out of sync. The video seems to run at twice the speed or at least 1/3 faster. I have literally been searching all day and have found no solutions.

Some more background info. I have a WD external (not used for anything to do with FCP) and a Seagate 750 internal. My main driver with all my apps still has about 72 Gig available, the Seagate has about 450 Gig of 750 available. In the Log and transfer window in the top right corner there is a small cog wheel icon, when selected there are several options, one being add custom path. When I select this (just trying things) I get this message.

“Final Cut Express Documents” contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.

This scares me, I originally had the final cut documents folder in a sub-folder on this drive, but after getting the message, moved it out of any sub-folders, I still get the message? Not sure if this is even a factor or not?

I’m almost thinking I should just restore the whole computer and start from scratch, but would prefer not to do this. Anyway, hope this helps regarding the response I hope yo send me.. 🙂 Thanks!!

    Noah,

Yes, I shot 30p and I do have the latest edition of Studio, 6.0.5. I’m thinking it has something to do with my ingest settings, can you give me some guidance ?

    Thanks!
