  • Digital Cinema Desktop Preview not working

Posted by Alexander Davidson on August 3, 2009 at 1:21 pm

    hi,

I’ve read a similar post but without any conclusion so… the Full screen option for the Digital Cinema Desktop Preview doesn’t work anymore (it use to) as soon as I hit cmd F12 I enter full screen but only see a single frame while the audio is running. As soon as I press space bar the screen refreshes to the latest frame…

    I’m running on a MBpro 15′ dual 2.2 FCP 6.0.5

video playback is on Digital Cinema Desktop Preview – Main
    external video on all frames

I’ve trashed fcp prefs once already

the only thing which I can think of is updating to the latest version of quicktime 7.6.2…

has anyone seen something like this as I’m sure it could be something simple I’ve overlooked.

    thanks

What format is your video? What format is the sequence?

    All the best,

hi tom thanks for the reply,

the sequence is in HDTV 720p (1280 x 720 with quicktime settings on photo jpeg).

the original footage is photo jpeg image compression 1280x720p 24fps.

I’ve edited with this kind of material without any problems before. But I think it’s something else since none of my previous edits done on the same computer display full screen anymore.

    Alex,

I too am having the exact same problem. It worked fine, then I tried monitoring externally using a Canopus ADVC110. Suddenly things started going south, I can view individual frames, but no live motion.

    hi Tim,

funny you should mention this because before this problem arrived I worked with the canopusADVC110 which I wasn’t able to get to work (osx recognised it but FCP didn’t want to output to it)…

So basically I worked with a projector instead on the project I was working on…

hope someone has a fix without reinstalling everything…

    alex,

You can say that again. When I first upgraded to FCP back in Dec. I could not get it to ingest my hmc150 footage, I worked with apple support for about a week and half on and off. Finally after about my 3rd reinstall it started functioning. Very odd, but I guess this just shows ya that even mac’s are not perfect. 🙂 I’ll patiently wait for some guidance on this …:)

alex, I have been thinking of going with another product for this pupose, I would like to monitor on a 1080P HD Set. Any recommendations?

I had the exact same problem last night and read your post. The problem is not quicktime but that of the update and OSX 10.5.6

You need to make sure you have the OS updated and all the FCP updates then it will work again.

I was pulling my hair out not being able to sort this, now its working as it used to .

I hope this works for you

    Darren,

Thanks for the info. I am completely up to date with all my software, still no luck. Dreading another re-install, will hold off for now as the function is not crucial for me currently.
