Just to clarify your question: are you working with Vegas Movie Studio 9b or with the 9c Pro version?

Next step: adding some colorcurves to the upper track can improve the event a little bit more:
(the color corrector was added for increasing the gamma of the uppertrack a little bit)

project file: I duplicated the track twice, used the multiply mode for the two upper tracks and added a little bit gamma to the upper track.

Sorry, but only the extended versions of Photoshop CS3 and 4 can work with video.
To do what you want to do, Adobes AE is more suitable.Theo

When you talk about a trial version of Vegas Pro 8, I suppose you are talking about 8c. To work with in and out point in Vegas, you can check this tutorial:

Currently Vegas has reached version 9c Pro. There the method to work with in- and out points has even been developed further. However, realise that you can work very easily with Vegas without using in- and out points in the way you were used in Avid software.

Yes, when you drag a media from the media generator tab to the timeline, a window will open. This window allows you to adjust the settings for this Generated media. That’s all normal. What would you like to have fixed?
