You are using the Timed Sequence. Then there are two time-lengths you can set: the length of the event on the timeline determines how long your text will be displayed. This is independent of the length of the effect.
The length of the effect can be set in the popup window from the video media generator (Credit roll). On the left top of this window you find the place where you can fill the length of the effect. The longer the effect takes, the slower it will go. This is independent of the event length on the timeline. In this way, you can set the speed of the incoming and outgoing text.
To make sure that the text is displayed only once, you will have to adapt the event length to the effect length (i.e. the ‘speed’)
To set different speeds for incoming and outgoing text, you either have to use a trick, or use different presets for in and out or use the pro-type titler.

I assume that you are looking for a grain which is much more subtile than the filmgrain that is supplied by the Vegas FX Filmgrain? Then I would suggest that you have a look at the CreativeEase GrainPlus2 plugin from Pixelan.

Sorry to hear that it didn’t work out well.

I don’t know what you would like to make (DVD, Blueray), but MPEG1 files are used for (low quality) videoCDs. That is certainly not what you should use.

Sorry, I don’t think that you can reset all the generated media together. Unless somebody else is going to teach us how.
But if you also applied event pan/crop to the generated media, then they could be removed all together by the use of scripts.

Create three video tracks.
Place the black and white clip on top.
Place the two video clips on the two layers below.
Add the fx MASK GENERATOR to the black and white event and choose the option LUMINANCE
Choose the composition mode MULTIPLY (MASK) for the upper track.
Make the middle track a child of the upper track.
Thats all.

To reset changes you made to the placement of the text in the window of the media generator, simply open the media generator window, go to the PLACEMENT tab, right click on the little window with your text and choose RESET.
I hope this is what you are looking for.

Look in the folder where you store your veg file. Probably you will find there another file withe the same name ending with .veg.bak
rename this file to something ending with .veg and try to open it in Vegas. This backup file could be still fine.

To reset the track motion settings, simply open the track-motion window, right-click on this window and select the appropriate choice (Restore Box) to reset the window.

Did you try to open the automatic backup file from Vegas? That one might be created before something happened to your veg-file.
(I suppose you didn’t make back-ups with different cversions?)

No, you don’t have to render your files seperately or add them twice to your disc. Just check the help files within DVDA (search e.g. for scene selection). There it is described in details how to do it.
