Before you can delete the video part while keeping the audio, you will have to ungroup the audio from the video. Just right-click on the video or the audio part of the event and follow the popup menu.

OK, that’s clear. An MP3 file with a bitrate of 320000 bps is too much for Vegas. Can’t you convert this to e.g .wav or .wma?

Yes you can change the codec to DV-avi, but you may better use the free Lagarith codec which is lossless and gives smaller files.

In that case you can follow the guidelines from my first posting. In that way the file of 1 h (12,9) GB can be easily burned on a 4,7Gb DVD. And for the larger file you can use the bitrate calculator that was suggested by Jeremy rasnic.

The most important question is: what do you want to do with the DVD. Do you want to make a DVD that can be viewed on television. Or you you just want to make a data DVD in the same way as you can store your photographs, your WORD files, your .dif files etc.

If you are talking about DV-avi: capturing means nothing else as copying, so without loss. However, as soon as you render (i.e. recalculate the video or audio) you loose quality.

Are you talking about DV-avi files? Then your 12Gb file is just 1 hour.
Normally we render the video in Vegas to MPEG2 using the mainconcept codec within Vegas and the audio to AC3. Gives these two files exactly the same name and place them in the same folder.
In DVDA, just import the video file and the audio file will follow automaticly.You will see that your 1h file will fit nicely on the DVD as MPEG2.
Even the larger 2h file will fit easily when you render with a lower bitrate, but this might affect the quality a bit. A solution could be the use of a double layer DVD for the larger file.
Never use the MPEG1 option, since this is meant for a low quality video CD

Do you mean that you can not record audio with your Panasonic NV-GS230 in 16bit mode??? Most likely that would solve your problem.

Was the audio recorded as 12bit or 16bit?
