The CAMERA is fine for recording audio.
The camera’s supplied MIC is not.Ty will be along soon with his mic recommendations.
You can plug any good Mic into your camera’s mic input and
record the voice tracks to tape. -
You can go to a thrift shop, Goodwill, garage sale, etc. and pick up a small CRT monitor for $5-$10.
Just connect it up to the Mac and let it sit.

It is generally against FW protocol to operate a video FW device AND another active “A/V” FW device at the same time.

You likely can’t do much with reverberant audio.
To adjust the amount of bass, use an EQ filter.

Trash the FCP Preferences.

Why not go to a post house and use their FCP?

Start with some EQ.
Where you “finish” depends on how good the track is now.
The level of experience in these things cam make all the difference in the final results.
