    Jeff,

    I did try to change the file extension to m2v and it made no difference. I know it’s transcoding the files because Encore says “transcoding video” and I watch the progress bar take a few minutes to finish. Also the end product shows more artifacts than coming out of DVDSP. It’s only a 2 minute video so file size isn’t the issue.

    As far as GOP structure goes, I believe it’s 15 frame GOP. I actually have gone over this with the tech who does the encoding and they are DVD compiant files. I’m not sure what the peak bitrate is. Isn’t there afree download somewhere that will tell you?

    Anyway, I’m stumped I like Encore, but if I can’t use hardware encoded files my clients demand, I’m gonna have to go to DVDSP for good.

    If you are using XP SP2 you can use 3GB of RAM.

    Right Click on “My Computer”
    “Properties”
    “Advanced”
    Under Startup and recovery click the settings tab
    Click on “edit”
    Notebook will open your boot.ini file.
    This is your boot.ini file. SAVE A COPY FIRST!

    Then on the last line add “3GB” at the end so your file looks like this:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS=”Microsoft Windows XP Professional” /noexecute=optin /fastdetect/3GB

    Then when you restart your machine, AE will use 3GB instead of 2GB.

    Good luck

    Thanks Dave,

    I kinda thought that, but I wanted to be a little more sure.

    Try CC Bender, CC Bend-it or maybe even a wave warp.

    DVCAM and DVCPRO 25 are the same codec. DVCPRO 50 is the 50mb version of that codec with a 4:2:2 color sample.

    You can mix all three together if you like on the Avid Timeline.

  • Hi,

    Go to frame 1 in your comp or the first frame where the TV appears.
    Put the layer you want to be in the TV screen underneath the masked layer.
    Resize appropriately.
    Make sure to mask the excess of the layer that resides underneath.
    Parent the layer underneath to the TV layer on top.

    If you’re trying to do what I think you’re trying to do that will work.

    Good Luck
