Hi,
I got them to work in CS3. I haven’t used them for a job yet. But I installed them, was able to drop them onto clips and keyfram effects. Nothing crashed or acted strange.
So far so good.

Kevin,
DVCPRO HD does not use temporal compression. It is a 100mb version similar to DV25 or DV50. it uses intraframe compression rather than interfram.

Presuming this is a keyable clip the way I would do it is to
auto trace the layer (layer>autotrace). This might make a lot of masks.
Then apply a stroke effect to all masks. In stroke options, select “on original”
Then duplicate the layer, in stroke options select “on transparent” and adjust the width.
Then offset the layer appropriately.
Hope this helps.

Did you try ALT +168 inside of AE? Try using a different font at least for the ¿. I just did this in AE CS3 and it worked fine.

The trouble with that is the lines can’t “arc” back to the Earth. I’ve had to do this same effect and I wound up using the method of the above poster: making a flat map with the lines, pre-comping, and the using ccSphere.
This is tough in AE because you can’t create 3D objects. If any of these workarounds won’t do, try Zaxwerks to create the sphere, or Trapcode 3D Stroke to create a 3D stroke on the sphere (still difficult though).

Unfortunately I think you’re going to have to do that effect inside AE. Transfer modes are a funny thing, they rely on the pixels of the layers underneath so if you isolate that layer, in your case a “stencil alpha”, it only has half the information to make that work.
Try dropping a fill effect on your logo, make it pure green
(0, 255, 0). Then key it in FCP.Or use the track matte inside AE. (may or may not give you what you need)

I’ve done a similar effect to this before.. if you’re doing what I think you want to do.
Basically create words on different z depths and have a camera fly out from them. You’ll need lots of words.
Have your logo in “stencil alpha” mode (in 2D, presuming there’s an alpha) and as the camera flys to the right point, have your logo’s scale property follow. This will give the illusion that you’re flying out from the logo made of words.
Then have your logo fade up normally in place of the “stencil alpha” logo. Be sure to fade out and END the stencil alpha logo or you’ll have problems.
This will look realy cool, but won’t provide a 3D textured sculpture of the logo. If you want that look you’re going to need to use some displacement maps to define texture at the end of the animation.
Hope this helps.

It sounds like you are exporting a QT with the animation codec, an uncompreesed format that will yeild the size you are describing.
If you want the same size file, then you need to use the same codec you brought the clip in at; using a DV codec. Check your render settings and under “format options” be sure to select DV.
This method however will recompress your footage. DV is already compressed and you may introduce unwanted artifacts. If you are only making titles, then why not export the titles only to FCP, save yourself a lot of rendering and maintain the quality of the original video.
Good Luck

effects>Hue Saturation Lightness> adjust saturation.
