Make the changes you want with NO DOCUMENT open. Then restart Indy. Settings should be default.

I’m not sure about the versions, but we have some old PageMaker files here. We use all Mac, so those old files do not have extensions on them. I just add “.indd” to them and they open fine in Indy. Hope that helps.

That’s pretty wild. Sounds like an April Fool’s joke. Check your Default Paragraph style. Other than that, ask your mischievous friend how to fix it.

Possibly, export as a pdf file.
Make a new Indy file that is the correct size.
Import your pdf file and resize accordingly.Problem: If ratios are not the same, distortion will result.

You talk about two different things, so I’ll deal with both one at a time.
1. Text information on the page, but outside the printable area. Add a bleed to the bottom of the file, maybe 2″. Type your information in there.
2. Metadata attached to the file. The info you add to the Indy file’s info is included in the pdf. If you need more information added, you can add it to the pdf file. If the information is the same each time, or similar enough that you can make some “templates” that hold the information, you can make a .xmp file(s) in which you import the metadata into the pdf file through Acrobat. InDesign can make an excellent pdf of your layout. This will probably require your recipients to click an attachment though. I think only HTML will be rendered within the message body of Outlook. InDesign doesn’t make all that great of HTML, as you have already found out.
The solutions are not pretty. Either create a pdf that must be clicked or start over with a HTML program (GoLive, DreamWeaver, etc…)

I have CS3 so maybe your problem is more than I realize.
Solution 1 – click on black arrow in the toolbar
Solution 2 – press the “v” key

If the border is unacceptable, what about distortion? You could make a new Indy document with the letter size settings and import the other Indy document. Then size it to fit the letter size (unproportionally – wow is that really a word, maybe disproportionally is better?)
Otherwise, yeah, you gotta real-do the layout.

Your rate may also adjust to the current team performance. If they are a highly ranked team, you can command more money. However, a poor team is also going to have a poor budget.
If the whole thing seems like pie-in-the-sky to them, see if they are open to sponsorships. I am blessed enough to have some great sportscasters, who can provide vocal endorsement for the “internet radio” listeners while still having “lower third” placements for the highlight videos and DVDs.

Blender will work and is free. But instead of spending money, you will spend many, many hours learning how to use it if you are new to this type of interface and workflow. Good luck.
