  • Let me also add that the media is even on SSD drives. Should I also put my system on an SSD as well?

  • I typically keep a media managed copy with handles of the RAW data from the timeline, I was more curious which leads to a better result.

    Shane,

So when you do that final export out of resolve I’m guessing you used an AAF from
Avid to bring the file in as opposed to a video mixdown or reference movie right? Makes sense I’m just creating extra DNXHD footage when I recut online I was just worried about lower thirds and other graphics playing nice with Davinci.

Got it! H.624 is how I end all of my digital projects as most people hire me for YouTube Vimeo and Facebook needs. I don’t make films but I like to keep myself trained and ready for that when the time comes so I was curious what others do.

  • Needed to add this! You need to open the XML in After Effects, then save it as a premiere project AND THEN import the premiere project from the media browser.

  • Figured it out kids and guess what, it was even stupider than I thought. The AAF being created was created with a “/” so AVID couldn’t figure out what to do with it. Then I noticed the name of the audio file was 170121_001 so I Changed the name of the original track from that to 170121 Track 1 and it worked. AVID hates slashes and underscores.

  • Figured it out. Adobe is just an asshole. You have to start a project and then import from the source browser and click selected sequence and then it works.

    Cheers!

I went with the Tokina and man that thing is great with the Ronin. Deep Focus and nice and wide, it handled very well!

Thanks for the input my man.

    Thanks John,

I already have both, I was just seeing if anybody preferred a certain lens for certain reasons. I saw some incredible Tokina Movi footage so I think I’ll go with that. I just always love to hear real world experience with certain lenses/focal lengths.

I just may have figured it out a different way. If I want to have the individual files intact..I can just export from resolve into ProRes. I just did that and the audio came out perfectly clean. I can easily create the original MXF and then for the audio chunks I want to change etc. I just export that clip in Prores and I have access to the audio tracks. Sloppy but it works. Maybe it has to do with Resolve and MXF files….
