I don’t have Studio but in regular Vegas when you open the capture module go to tools – preferences -disk management -and set your second drive up as the capture drive. I don’t know if Studio is the same.

Yes, I had come to the conclusion that installing it internally was abouty the only way I had a chance. The problem is that I am niot afraid to try this. I am not computer tech oriented (and am 62 years old) but I have learned alot by attempting things that I probably should not have in the past. Also had some disasters. But have amnaged to change out video cards in my current PC (going to a dual monitor card for editing) and placing a sound card in my grandsons PC when the onboard sound went out (had to turn off the onboard sound in the BIOS). So I’m not completely inept – just dangerous!
I have already had the Maxtor drive out of its enclosure (and found a loose screw rolling around in there! Could not find where it went, may have been an extra from the manu.:)Now RSQ (really stupid question) Is the ATA cable the ‘ribbon’ cable inside the desktop and I assume that I can attach the extra hard drive to any open connection?
Thnaks guys and gals. -
Copied from another forum:
The reason the volume is lower is because of the AC3 template in vegas…specifically the dynamic range compression settings in the preprocessing tab. By default the setting is at “Film Standard”. Setting the line & RF mode to “None” will bring the level of volume back/close to original
That is really misleading. The DRC does NOT affect levels during render. It is a metadata flag that tells the DVD decoder what dynamic range curve to apply, but only IF the DRC (often called night mode, et al) is engaged on the playback device. In other words, the consumer playing back the DVD must turn on the night mode for the DRC setting to be applied.
The real level culprit is the infamous Dialog Normalization (DialNorm) setting. The Vegas default assumes your dialog (average) is -27 and essentially pulls your level down 4 dB to match the -31 standard. This is so TV programs maintain a consistent dialog level from show to show, regardless of content. For example, a rock concert might have a DialNorm setting of -15, therefore its level will be pulled down accordingly.
If you set the Vegas Dialnorm to -31, there will be no change in the level, BUT you are defeating the purpose of the setting. For a standalone DVD, it’s not an issue. For broadcast, it is.
I hope that clarifies this often misunderstood topic.

Just guessing – but maybe the heat generated by the continuous playing created a problem with the dye layer.

Thought I might buy a cheap camera, never know when I might need to work with D8 again.
In checking B&H I found a Sony DCR TRV 280 for $264.00. But it list firewire in not firewire out. I know that firewire is supposed to be a two-way deal. Did they just forget to mention that it was out allso? They have a DCR TRV 480 for about $100 more that states that the firewire is both in and out. Since the only reason I need this camera is for the transfer of a minimal amount of D8 tape I would hate to spend $100 more if I do not have to.

Just move the windows as you would any windows window. You can dock and undock the modules by using the little dots on the left.

I have found that saving projects (with media) that include nested projects within them is problematic. What is the solution to that?
Thanks
