pan and zoom slide show in vegas
Posted by Raphwhit on January 12, 2006 at 6:30 pmHi im currently a mediastudio pro 7 user thinking to upgrade to version 8 or to vegas 6
In mspro7 you can select lots of pics and add them all at once to the timeline each with a default timespan (num of frames) and transition then i can easily modify each one with a pan and zoom effect
I just want to know if in vegas 6 i can add lots of pics to the time line at once (this step is ok) but when i do i want each pic to be 3 seconds long (75frames PAL) and to have a cross fade transition already set up this would seriously improve work flow
can vegas do this
i have the trial version at mo

January 12, 2006 at 7:56 pmYes, Vegas can do this. In fact, it can even add all the pans and zooms for you too! (via scripting)
To set the lengths and amount of overlaps, you simply go to the preferences, set the default length as desired, and then set the amount of crossfade you want. When you drag the images to the timeline, they will all be set to that length and amount of crossfade. You can then use Pan/Crop to add zooms and pans.
Go here and look at the sample video scrapbook video. All of the movements were added by Excalibur (with no retouching by me). Typically, you’ll have to fine tune maybe 10-20% of the photos. Excalibur can also help you set the lengths of the clips and the amount of overlaps.

January 12, 2006 at 11:51 pmIve been playing around with vegas some more and now can do pretty much all i could do in mediastudio pro and the more I use vegas the more i like it i just love the sub clips and being able to import other veg file. the sound tools are awesome. and cool features that make it like after effects.
But another problem just a cosmetic one how do i change the layout of vegas so that the time lines are in the bottom half of the screen and video and media lib are in top half
ill also look at excalibur when ive pretty much feel at home in vegas
Thanks

January 13, 2006 at 12:51 amJust move the windows as you would any windows window. You can dock and undock the modules by using the little dots on the left.

Unfortunately that trick won’t work with the timeline. You need to get into the internal prefs to make that change and, since Ralph is a Vegas rookie, I’m going to leave well enough alone – for now anyway.

January 13, 2006 at 5:24 pmHere you go then. Instructions as per one of Edward’s older posts.
CAUTION! This is a potentially dangerous process that can mess up Vegas. If you mess up, you’ll have to restart Vegas holding down the SHIFT key to reset all settings. So… proceed at your own risk:
Hold the SHIFT KEY and go to Options – Preferences and there will be a new tab marked “Internal.” Search for the word “Dock” in the word field.
Change this to TRUE.Close the preferences screen and your timeline will now be on the bottom of the screen.
