An update on this problem. Getting back to the project the next day I found that Vegas would now see the time code but would not read it smoothly. That is- usually the time code just runs linearly as the video plays and you can watch the time go by. Now it would run for a while and then stop and then catch up and run for a while and then stop. The video did record smoothly though. It seems strange that rthis whole problem just started in the middle of a project. Maybe there is a problem with the video heads not cleanly picking up the control track information? Think I will try to use my PD150 as an input and see how it reads.

Place your text event on a track. Type a single line of type (your ‘ticker tape’) as long as you want – even if it disappears off the page. Using the placement tab place your text at the bottom but within the safe zone. Then place your curser over the text. It will turn into a hand. Move your text off the right side of the screen and set your first keyframe. Then move your entire text off the left side. The trick is keeping it at the same horizantal level. Then set the last key frame. When you play this your text will move from off the screen right, across the bottom and then off the screen left. If you stretch out the event it should repeat again and again depending on how long you stretch it out.
Good luck -

No, the taping was done at one time consequtively. The tape was never removed. The strange thing is when I go back to the area where time code was previously read, it will not read it now. Yet it shows on the camera displayy?
Thanks for the try.

If you are not putting it over a video then you just create a text generated media. The background will appear black but it is actually transparent so that if you put video on a track below the text track you would see the text over the top of the video.
Write your text. Then go to track motion and set a keyframe with the text in the starting position (above the screen if you want). Then set a second keframe with the text at the bottom (on the ground :)) When you play this the text will move from the top to the bottom over the period of the keyframe. You want another text item ‘falling’ at the same time but at a different rate?? Make another generated text and place it on a separate track above the first and make it either longer or shorter than the first one. Then place keyframes in the track motion with the first one above the screen and the last one ‘on the ground (or below if you want)You just keep building this pyramid with as many text events as you want. Except if you have the ‘lite’ studio version of Vegas you are limited to 4 video tracks – the full version is basically unlimited.
If you have more questions I can email you a .veg file example to look at.

One way might be to put each comment (generated text?) on a separate track above everything else and use track motion and keyframes and let the rain fall:).

Let me see if I have this right…
jpg 1 on track 1
jpg 2 on track 2
jpg 2 is “background ” picture of someone holding white cardVideo starts as full screen view of jpg 1.
You then ‘pull back’ thus exposing more and more of jpg 2 as jpg 1 receeds and stays centered on the white card.At beginning and throughout entire video jpeg 1 stays clean.
But as jpg 2 becomes visible as you pull back it is pixillated but possibly gets clearer the more you ‘pull back’You end up with jpg 2 filling screen with a small ‘pip’ of jpg 1 where the white card is and everything looks clean at that point.
And you are doing all this with only event pan and crop?
The first thing that comes to mind is that jpg 2 needs to be a lot higher resolution as you would be really zoomed in on it at first.

Start out with both jpg full frame. Should be clear pictures. No pixilization. Then use pan crop on top jpg to reduce to size of and position of white card. You can run scene in reverse if you want it to go the other way, but start out with full size images.

What is the reolution of the images that you are using?

Yes, of course. That is correct.
