  • The point of the XML is to reconform the edit from the rendered clips that you exported from Resolve so you wouldn’t need to do this by hand.

[Sam Oates] “‘m wondering if there’s a tool analogous to Merge Clips that analyzes image frames instead of audio waveforms.
    “

    No.

[James McCosh] “But if PPro manages to invoke another program when Audition isn’t available, there must be something somewhere intercepting the request and making a substitution.
    “

What program is it actually opening? Also is there an actual reason you don’t want to use Audition? It’s really easy to move your entire audio edit there and do your mixing there.

[James McCosh] “Now, as I select “Edit in Adobe Audition” in Premiere Pro it invokes an inappropriate program, not one of the above.”

That command sends your project to Audition and AFAIK that command is not customizable. If you need to export your audio to some other audio program you’d probably want to use AAF or OMF export. I don’t know if either of those support that kind of workflow.

When you export from Premiere the format you’re exporting to mandates what levels it should have. You should not need to do anything manually unless it’s some weird non-standard format.

PNGs are smaller but take longer to render. TGAs take more space but are faster to render. They should be similar quality wise.

[Hrabba Gunnarsdottir] “It does not seem to recognize the black magic converter. “

The converter is not an I/O device. It just converts a signal to another interface. If you need SDI you need to:

-Get an I/O device that has SDI out.

    Or:

-Insert an HDMI cable to your GPU, run that through the converter and connect the SDI to your monitor. Then enable it in the playback settings. If I remember correctly it was called “fullscreen preview” or something. Note that the monitor is probably expecting some sort of a standard signal so your sequence needs to match that.

The converter is just a converter. You will need something that can output the signal like a Blackmagic Mini Monitor. You can also use the outputs of your computer. There should be settings under Preferences – Playback.

  • CUDA is an Nvidia specific feature. It will not work on ATI cards.

[Aarron Pina] “What are my options?”

Buy an Nvidia card that has at least 1 GB of VRAM or use Cinema4D lite that comes with Creative Cloud.

Premiere supports all kinds of image sequences but I’ve never heard that it could actually conform from image sequences. If this is a feature you want then you should write here about it: https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

Resolve supports conforming from image sequences but the image sequences will need proper information like reel names and timecodes.
