If it’s simple enough and I don’t need any AE tools I’m doing it in Premiere.

-Add the track matte key effect to the footage.
-Choose the video track where the matte is from the track matte key settings.
-Set the correct composite setting for the matte. If it has alpha use matte alpha. If it’s a black and white matte then use matte luma. -

Or if you get a layered photoshop file that has a bunch of adcopy and graphics. It’s easier to mess around with those in their own sequence and then bring it with the rest of the commercial. I don’t use nesting in editing.

What are you trying to accomplish?

I find it semi-weird that these programs even offer an HDR mode as the actual reference monitors required to do this sort of work cost like 30 thousand euros eg. the Sony BWM-X300. Then there are people with some random “HDR”-televisions “grading” in “HDR” and wondering why it doesn’t look good.

We’ve done a bunch of phone and tablet stuff and usually we get the assets and animate the UI ourselves. Then the footage might require a bunch of time remapping depending on what happens on the screen.

They had preview events for the tools. I was wondering if anyone noticed this difference during those.

Probably not but I’d guess this how it went down:
-Somebody programmed the math that works differently between the different standards
-Somebody tested the functionality
-Somebody approved it
-They shipped itIt’s not a random bug that just happens in certain edge cases as the results are the same for all users.

What are your footage dimensions/pixel aspect ratio and what are your project timeline settings?
