You probably should’ve mentioned that in the first place. It also isn’t the best option to use features that you don’t know. Read the manual perhaps.

I’m not responsible for your workflow. Neither is Adobe.

[Steve Bentley] “Is there some deep seeded reason that CC2019 won’t run on Win 7?”

Most likely they’ve added features that are built in the later OSs. Like Dolby decoding. This is also happening with different pro softwares like Resolve. You can either get with the times or stay in the older versions of everything.

[Michael Gissing] “sending graded renders from Color”

Well there’s your problem ???? Holy crap Color was the buggiest piece of crap I’ve ever had the pleasure to use.

October 21, 2018 at 8:15 am in reply to: import *.exr with correct LUT and settings?

I didn’t know this was a problem in the first place. One can use the VFX LUTs, one can use the color transform effect or one can use the Resolve color management to set the input and output of the clips to a needed gamut/gamma.

Resolve won’t automatically export EXRs in linear so one would need to use the same tools to turn the export to linear. A timeline correction for everything or use color management.

The manual is a good place to start.

[Michael Gissing] “ProRes4444 QT has always been problematic with gamma shifts between different applications.

I’ve only seen the color shift issue when people try to look their work on Quicktime Player that can’t show anything right. I haven’t had issues with Prores between different pro applications. That said I’ve never used 444 formats in video levels.

  • [Alan Daly] “While I appreciate your suggestions regarding converting clips to avoid duplicate filenames and timecodes, it does not explain my situation where I have reduced my sequence to a single clip.”

This can (and will) happen if your footage doesn’t have an actual timecode track and/or a reel name. Marc’s and Glenn’s responses are spot on.

    You could try this:

In Premiere export the clip to DNxHR or DNxHD and change the start timecode of the clip in the export settings to 01:00:00:00. Bring the clip back in and it should start at what you’ve set it. Then make a new sequence and add a few clips in there from that newly created clip and try conforming that sequence with that new file in Resolve.

  • [Alan Daly] “”clip could not be found” and “Media offline””

So can you import and play the Sony footage in Resolve or is this a conform issue only?

October 19, 2018 at 6:28 pm in reply to: Why can I no longer export with h.264?

[Martin Kruul] “Are there other similar codecs?”

Yes? The Mainconcept H264 that can be found in the latest version as H264 under the format selection drop drown menu.

[Martin Kruul] “h.264 is considered ‘legacy’?”

Quicktime H264 was always really bad and limited and as Apple dropped developing Quicktime there’s no use to keep using it becaaauuuussseee… There’s the Mainconcept H264 which is better, not limited like the Quicktime one and is still being developed.

Adobe has removed a bunch of the legacy codecs because Apple neglected the development of Quicktime. You can still add the comp to the Adobe Media Encoder queue and export with the H264 format in an mp4 container.
