Try setting the file permissions for the footage. You might get an import error if the OS doesn’t have permission to use the file.

You are comparing raw, high bit depth footage to a compressed 8-bit footage. Of course it will look worse. You might want to try upping the bitrate for the export.

NTFS, write/read on windows, read only on mac.
EXFat, works on mac and windows, just make sure the cluster size isn’t over 1024.
HFS, only for mac.

You need to have Quicktime installed and then install that. You don’t need any special place to install that and it doesn’t matter what Premiere you have because it is a Quicktime thing.
