Just prepare for glitches and crashing. Hell, I’ve got an older iMac that has a supported card and it’s crashing all the time with the GPU acceleration on.

Turn on the “maximum render quality” checkbox. That will force the best quality scaling. The render will take longer though.

The program monitor can show scopes in realtime so if you can monitor your timeline with an external monitor then you should be good to go. The reference monitor only shows one frame when stopped and I don’t believe you can make multiple program monitors.

I’ve edited a bunch of 4K-6K stuff on iMacs. It’s not the end of the world unless you’re doing something insanely effects heavy. If you need real time full quality playback with dozen effects then you need to spend a bit.

You didn’t post any specs on that computer, but my guess would be that the firewire drive can’t handle the streams. You’ll need a fast RAID or maybe a faster computer.

Adding the blur to a copy of the clip and blending it with the original isn’t just slapping a blur on it.

Your GPU still doesn’t have enough memory to work even if you tried that.

NLEs don’t support live multicamera feeds. You’ll need a switcher like a Newtek Tricaster or a Blackmagic ATEM television studio. There’s also software based multicamera stuff (like CutFour https://www.avtake.com/cutfourhd.asp) but you’ll need a I/O capture card for each camera.

Ray traced renderer only supports Nvidia GPUs.
