Unless you have an older computer that has working firewire then you’ll need a capture card that has the needed inputs for video and audio. Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K should have everything needed and it’s pretty cheap.

If I remember correctly Avid has an option to render in CBR so the bitrate is constant. Prores is usually VBR (variable bit rate) that will use only as much as it needs so the file can get smaller.

The thing about delivery specs is that you need to deliver the program with the specifications that the broadcaster has provided. If they want SD MPEG2 then you’ll need to deliver in that format.
If you want to keep any quality, you’ll need to find a channel that broadcasts in HD.

The problem isn’t MPEG 2 as it still sees a lot of use eg. XDCAM and DVDs. The problem is that going from 4K/HD to SD one will lose a lot of resolution and there’s nothing you can do about that.

H264 as an archival format is a terrible idea and transcoding the H264 to Prores is just wasting time and space. You’re not gaining anything from that.

You could probably remove the watermark by buying the software instead of trying to hide the watermark.

Quicktime is dead and installing the player does nothing. Apps use their own encoders and decoders.

The only thing I do to AE color management is to turn it off. I’ve had way too many issues with it and I do not trust it at all. I would suggest using OpenColorIO instead. Fnordware has a AE plugin made for that.

If it’s only 8 frames you could also trim them.
