I very much appreciate your input Steve. I guess something like the Ambient Recording ACL 204 – ACN Portable Timecode Synchronizer would do it. I also see there are wireless TC transceivers. I was hoping the X-70 would have an intrinsic TC clock. The budget won’t stretch to all this, so it looks like I’ll continue audio syncing FTTB.

Thanks for the additional information, Ty. You guessed right that my next questions would be about TC syncing in FCPX. Things generally are a lot slicker now we are up to version 10.1.3, but let’s see. One step at a time!

Thank you Ty -your advice is always so reassuring! Yes, I will now look into the X70 capability in this respect. I knew it had TC connectivity, but wasn’t sure if you could do the jam sync (sounds like a dance).

November 29, 2014 at 10:07 pm in reply to: Your opinion on the Audix SCX1 for Indoor Dialog recording for film.To Eric / Nick –
Sorry, I know this is an old thread…
I’m about to buy something like the MKH-50, mainly for indoor use. Good reach and low noise is what I’m after. But this supercardioid / hypercardioid labelling is confusing my brain a bit. From what I have read, hypercardioid should have more reach and more off-axis rejection, and yet the MKH-50 is listed as supercardioid, while the Audix SCX1-HC as hypercardioid.
I’m not at all questioning your wisdom on this – just looking for good advice and clarification.
Thanks

The power of Earl Grey.
I just went and made a cup of tea, came back and the thing seems to have fixed itself. Yikes! The mysteries of metadata. But why did I have to endure this madness in the first place?

February 5, 2014 at 4:59 am in reply to: Final cut audio fade handle options suddenly not workingOh! Thanks – that’s how I have done it in the past. My brain got scrambled. I was thinking of video key frames I guess. That said, it would be nice to have some control of those nodes that I put in with click-option (not the handles at the beginning/end) which always appear to use a log shaped curve.

July 23, 2013 at 9:15 pm in reply to: Still images in FCPX have black bars on each sideHi David: Thanks, you helped me nail it! The spatial conform was FIT, so okay, but the position was out by several pixels X and Y. I have no idea how this happened (I do tons of this in projects) but it’s an easy fix at least. There were several interconnected pans that all were all out by the same amount. Anyway, thanks for the prompt!

July 23, 2013 at 6:11 am in reply to: Still images in FCPX have black bars on each sideOld post I know – but the Ken Burns effect is behaving oddly on some of my images; The screen captures will explain. Even though the crops are within the image boundary there are borders visible during the pan. Oddly, the boarders remain fairly constant in size, as if the aspect frame is out of wack. I have a gradient in the background, which is why the borders aren’t black, but it’s the same without that. Anyone know what’s happening here? Thanks.

Wow! – I think you’ve nailed it for me. It’s an excellent idea that I plant to implement. Thanks so much for pointing that out.
