In the future, just right click on the file in Windows land and go into security. You can take ownership of the file and give permissions to “everyone”.
There is an avid article on this somewhere in the knowledge base, search for permissions.
Also, you need to add “.AVB” to the end of the file you pulled from the attic or Avid won’t recognize it as a bin and open it.

First off, the image on the right looks like hell. That aside, it is bluer, and the gamut is raised and blown out a bit.
The easiest way for you to handle it is to use the color corrector. Go into the curves tab. You will see on the right two eyedropper sample boxes. Park on the shot you like and sample the the book cover of the psychology book behind the guy on the left.
Then park on the shot you want to have match and sample the same part of the book cover that is still behind him.
Now hit the match button below the sample panes. This should get you fairly close to where you want to be. You can then fine tune in the curves to get an exact match.

Not sure of a way to make the background go away. But you can easily bring everything back to the foreground with one two button keystroke.
Command + Tab will pull up the application switching menu just like in a PC. Then additional presses on Tab will cycle through the open applications. If you stop on MC, all of the application will come to the foreground.

Sounds like you have the wrong field order. Try upper field then lower field then progressive (no fields).
One of those will work.

This is normal. Avid needs to output starting at an “A” frame and ending on the “D” frame. This is your five frame pulldown sequence. Just as you have to start at a TC that ends in :00 or :05 to get the proper cadence on capture, this is what you have to do in reverse on output.
If it went out in between, you could have a frame with one field from a following shot for instance.
So it wants to complete the cadence group. Essentially, it is preventing you from burning yourself.
If you are going out in black, it won’t matter, just ignore it. If you are going out in picture, elect a “D” frame for your out point.

The inpoint becomes the sync point, not the start of the group.
The start of the group would be the start of the clip with the most handle PRIOR to the inpoint.
If you have a clip that has three minutes of video or audio or whatever, prior to the inpoint, then the entire group is going to start three minutes before the inpoint.
If you truly have nothing before the inpoint on ANY of the clips, then something is wrong.

Huh?
Mark in points on each clip wherever you want. Say a slate clap for instance. Then when you go to group them select “by in point” as opposed to by TC. It’s that easy.

Avid isn’t “adding black at the beginning, it showing you the black on that camera that aligns with video on another camera.
If you cut the multicam in and you see black at the head, try switching through the cameras and I bet you find one with video or audio there. It just isn’t the one that defaults as the camera that shows when you first cut the clip in.
