If you can hear the noises while previewing, chances are they will be reproduced in the final product. Does the noises appear when you play the project from the timeline in Vegas or just after you have rendered to AC3?

Color correction in V4 is quite powerful. It just takes a little know-how to achieve what you are after. There are several good tutorials on the net about the subject. Try doing a search on “color correction vegas”.

Peter,
Just curious about the recording formats on the FX1. I know that HDV records to Mpeg2, but does SD record to regular DV or does it record to Mpeg2 also and then have to be down converted to DV?
Thanks,

Thanks Peter,
That is what I was thinking also as far as more features (programable buttons), lens, etc. And since it uses DV format for SD, I’m thinking it would be a step up from the VX2100 even if only used for SD.
Thanks so much for your input. -

June 8, 2005 at 4:32 pm in reply to: Flip Horizontal (Old film conversion – Letters are backward)You will need to split the video clip at the beginning and end of the section that needs to be flipped or you will flip the entire clip. You probably already knew that but thought I’d mention it just in case.

You might try installing latest driver for the driver for the card. I had this same thing happen with mine a while back…computer showed the 1394 in the devices list, but it wouldn’t output external monitor, and the software that came with the card wouldn’t recognize the card at all. If I remember right, I just installed the latest driver from their website and it’s back to working fine.

Change to the 4:3 aspect ratio from the pull-down at the top of the pan/crop window first, then you can move it anyway you like, even off screen.

Rick,
I’ve used probably 300 or more of the ProDisc DVDs I’ve been getting from CD-DVD-supplies.com (quite cheap) and have never had a problem until just recently. I’ve used these discs for full 2 hour programs lots of times…but I never burn faster than 2X. This last spindle I’ve been using has had probably 10-12 coasters in it…first batch I’ve had probs with. And the glitches have been with 10-15 minutes into the discs. You can physically see flaws in the disc after burning. I just looked them up on the page you stated and they are listed in the 2nd best catagory…right along with Ritek and others. Hopefully I’ve just got a hold of one bad spindle. Makes ya kind of leary though. You might look at a few of your discs that has been freezing up. See if you can see any small dark spots where the disc is burned. Just look at it under some light at different angles, if they are there you’ll see them.

You can also use the enter key for a stop button. Space for rewind back to where you started…Enter for stop where you’re at.
