The two arrays were formatted using Mac OX’s drive utility as a striped pair in one 8.1 TB partition. The individual arrays are hardware arrays setup w/ LaCie’s software as raid 5. Not sure what else your’e asking Zaine?

They are two LaCie 4Big quadras in raid 5 mode. The Kona test gave them about 195Mb Per sec. individually and around 300 when in raid 0 pair.

It 1080 x1920 /23.98PsF ProRes422HQ. I restarted Final Cut & surprize, it completed the rest of the renders. Hope it doesn’t happen again. Thanks for the response

    Fred,
This has the same chip as the LaCie’s card. I seem to remember them saying that I could just use the Mac’s disk utility to strip the two arrays. Guess I should ck w/ them though.
    Thanks,
    Ted

    Fred,

Thanks for reply. I am using a ADDONICS ADSA3GPX8-4E 4-port E-Sata PCI-E raid controller. I have 2 LaCie’s 4Big Quadras & get about 132MB/s reads at NTSC DV25 frame size and 128MB file size out of the comb using AJA System Test.
The speed is higher with 720X486 10bit frame size and file size of 1GB, about 200MB/s reads. The drives clearly are not as fast with little reads.
My CPU on the Mac is an 2 X3.2Ghz Quad-Core. So striping or separate?
What software do you recommend for striping?

    Thanks,
    Ted

thanks, I’ll hold off for your review. Wish there was something cheaper that would even just work on FC7’s 3 way color corrector.

Thanks, will ck it out. Do you know if it will work within Final Cut’s 3 way color corrector filter as well as color?

Yes that is what I’ve been seeing.

I’ve been working now for hours on two different newly converted M100HD programs & discovered the major problem. If I unrendered the realtime preview files or turn of and then on the preview on then the clips play back properly and completely. I also noticed the wave files playback thru the Kona 3 card with a slap echo. I can turn change the settings on the M100 audio output w/in M100 & it then plays back OK but returns in a few minutes. Very odd. I’m gonna try exporting these programs into FC7 & see how they play and sound soon.

I tried reloading the old M100 into the new M1000HD & it works ok now (I had got a -19308 error, don’t know why its ok now), the problem shows up in the XML export to Final Cut 7. The new M100HD timeline is nondrop NTSC 720×486. Final Cut gives me a log of errors when importing the XML file.

I’ve a Kona3 that works fine with Final Cut7 & gives an SDI out when running the M100HD software.
