  • old vari speed clips not working in new M100HD

I got the trial of the new HD version of M100 primarily to work with old 8.3 M100 NTSC projects (many of the shots are varispeed clips) I open the old project in M100 1.1 and the varispeed clips are linked but not in the right place, leaving black gaps. I tried exporting out of the M100 via XML and I tried all the export options the problems remain in Final Cut, all vari speed clips were still partially missing the underlying clips or missing completely.

    Is this a known bug?

    Hmmm… it’s NOT a known issue.

What else can you tell us about the project?

    – Dropframe or Non-Drop timecode?

    – 720×486 or 640×480?

I tried reloading the old M100 into the new M1000HD & it works ok now (I had got a -19308 error, don’t know why its ok now), the problem shows up in the XML export to Final Cut 7. The new M100HD timeline is nondrop NTSC 720×486. Final Cut gives me a log of errors when importing the XML file.

I’ve a Kona3 that works fine with Final Cut7 & gives an SDI out when running the M100HD software.

When exporting to XML are you choosing the option to include rendered filter media?

    Okay… forget that last question.

I was just able to sit down and replicate your scenario and I think I may be seeing the same thing.

I am able to trim the clips out to fill the gap, at which time they play as expected. Can you do this also?

I am going to run this by Engineering now to see what they think about it.

Yes that is what I’ve been seeing.

I’ve been working now for hours on two different newly converted M100HD programs & discovered the major problem. If I unrendered the realtime preview files or turn of and then on the preview on then the clips play back properly and completely. I also noticed the wave files playback thru the Kona 3 card with a slap echo. I can turn change the settings on the M100 audio output w/in M100 & it then plays back OK but returns in a few minutes. Very odd. I’m gonna try exporting these programs into FC7 & see how they play and sound soon.
