Thanks for responding. I’m currently running the ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB and I’m hurting. LOL Even with my Mid 2010 Mac Pro RAM maxed out at 32GB FCPX just chokes. I just viewed the HD 7970 but do you have the Black Edition and where did you buy yours? I”m having no luck on Amazon. All the Radeons are PC based. I’m not into flashing cards.

I just viewed the HD 7970 but do you have the Black Edition? Sapphire customer support is non existent so I’ve dropped them and the GTX680 is a bit out of my price range. So, I’m going to read up on the HD 7970 and if all is well I’ll go for that. Thanks again.

September 16, 2013 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Marantz

Hello. Did you find a solution to your Marantz issue? I’m having the same issue and first time using it today. We can hear the audio if the SD card is in the slot and played back on the Marantz, but you can’t see the recorded mp3 file if the SD card is put in a mac or pc. We had to go old school and run the RCA audio out into another camera and dub in real time. Really need a solution or i’ll have to ditch the marantz and go with a Tascam or H4N Zoom.

May 20, 2013 at 7:30 pm in reply to: Easy way to reverse clip

I don’t know what the deal is with Avid MEdia Composer 6.5.2, but many on this post say you just drag and drop the reverse effect or a timewarp effect on the clip in your timeline and bam! you’ve got instant speed change. Not true. I”m getting killed on 6.5.2. I’ve tried every way possible to add the motion effect and I keep getting a white flash and an error message stating, “effect does not apply,” when trying to drag and drop any of the motion effects to a clip on the timeline. Very frustrating. I can do it via opening motion editor and clicking promote and then adding keyframes, but that is it. Help!

May 1, 2013 at 2:35 pm in reply to: INVALID FILE NAME error on jpeg import

I’ve having this issue now with files that have periods in them. Example S5.3T1.mov. Seems simple to be but Avid just won’t install them and there are tons of these. I now have to figure a way to use automator and batch rename them. Pain.

March 23, 2013 at 1:33 am in reply to: FCPX opinion and wish list

We are now on 10.07 and my wish is very simple…I really want back the ability to have color coded bins and be able to color code the items in the bins. I recognize there are no bins now, and thats cool, but being able to color code helps even more with organizing. Just saying.

Thanks. I saw that but never tested it, so all you have to do is an, “open file,” in 5.5?

Hahaha! Great points. I didn’t get to read all of them so forgive me if I repeat something already stated. I love FCPX, teach Premiere CS5.5, and not 6, worked on Avid Media Composer, Newscutter, Lightworks, Vegas, FCP7…all are just tools. I don’t, “hate,” on NLE software because it is all about the user. I remember selling tv shows at NATPE in 2008 and a young lawyer with no TV or film experience shows up with a 3 minute sizzle reel edited on iMovie and gets a nice $35,000.00 deal after the first day of the convention. The posts on Creative Cow are excellent because so many people can provide help and tips to many of us who may get lost or frustrated with a particular application. However, a good spirited debate is ok as long as, in my opinion, we remember that these are just tools and it is about the persons skill set and not the software. I love FCPX for my ENG and sports work and love Avid for long form documentary work. I like teaching Premiere and see the good in it. And I love Photoshop. Must have. After Effects not so much, but Motion, Yes! Man just have fun!!
