So Shane, i’m assuming you have an NX5? I just bought one a month ago and so far really love it – though i still think this codec is a bit squirrelly, as well as a few other design things i would change on the camera, but i’m mainly looking for a good forum for FCP and NX5 users without mucking up the Cow here with such specific questions.

Do you know of one or should i just discuss my stuff here?

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

i bit the bullet and stopped it. trashed only the “compressor” pref, not the “CompressorSharedService” one, and so far it looks like this total render will be about 45 minutes, barely 1.5 times real time.

    : )

ah yes…ye olde trashing the prefs trick…i don’t think i have ever done it with Compressor. my render has been terribly slow, says it’s 3 hours and 21 minutes into it and only half way done! would the vote here be to dump out of the render, trash prefs, and begin the render again? i wonder if the new render would be quicker than another 3 hours from this point???

  • ya, i think i will continue to stick with export…

i went to bed a few hours ago thinking i would have time to let it “share” an iPod (m4v) file off the half hour ProRes timeline. five hours later (yes, little sleep these days!) it said it was only halfway done!

bummer, back to rendering out a single ProRes QT, then dumping it to my favorite droplet for uploading via YouSendIt to my client for preview…

i found a few slightly different 5770’s at new egg.

one is the XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 and the other is the HIS H577FK1GD Radeon HD 5770.

other than $5, what is the difference?
