No worries…but as i get back to work today, i just gotta tell you how nice it is to see a real dissolve on my show! Amazing what a very simple change like that can do for the look of a show and project. Thanks again for your light on that.

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

BOOM! Thanks! That was quite magical! I’m surprised i hadn’t heard that tip before. Does unchecking that box change the look of anything else? It seems like it certainly might, and not always in a beneficial way.

Agreed. I finally got fed up trying to make an even dissolve (one clip on top of the other), tried all the dissolves in the PP tool box, even tried “Chroma Leaks”, which worked great dissolving in (not chroma/luma flashes), but dissolving out it’s name was quite apparent.

I even tried keyframing the opacity. No go. Amazing.

So, I’ll try filmimpact. Thanks, Karlis!

It appears so. And it got corrupted in between two saved versions. Very odd.

    Oliver,

Thanks for the reply and query. In answer:

Just editing as usual. A long ways (several days) into a project, and it “just happened”, though seemed to keep occurring when i click on a specific clip in the sequence, so assuming the clip had been corrupted, so i opened the last version (thank you, 20 instances of auto-save!) prior to the error and have had no problems since.

    I’ve tried both.

    Yes. For many days.

    Local.

    No.

    Yes. CC 2019.

Ya, i did that, and unless i’m missing something else on dates and times, etc…i think somehow this sequence got deleted! But i just don’t want to accept that yet as true! ☹ But so far i’m not finding a better explanation.

p.s. and yes, of course, i’ve opened the two projects in question, searched every folder for that sequence, and no dice. Everything is pointing to me deleting it for some reason…OR, it is possible i was inadvertently in another project when i saved it, but i don’t know which one it could be. Ugh. At the worst, it’s probably only about 6 hours of lost time, but i’ll wait a bit to hear from any of you in case you can save me those hours. 🙂

    Hey Robert,

    It’s one of these puppies:

USB 3, super handy. You can also put in a laptop drive (i think), but i’ve also “saved” more than one portable drive that i thought was dead. Google that technique, but by breaking off the external case of a portable drive, you’re left with just the drive, and it will fit into a smaller slot on the caddy. Transfer off the data and violin! 🙂

Back with a 2019 project working dandily in 2018. The lagging seems to have stopped.

The downgrade worked. I had no idea this was possible. If any of you want to do it, here’s the video for Mac:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8ecJNJsnn8&feature=youtu.be

    and for them other machines:

I opened it up in 2018 with no problems. Yet. Restarting and we’ll see if the lag issue is gone.
