  • How to find specific sequence/timeline?

I’m guessing this isn’t possible, but do any of you know if there is a way to search your computer looking for a specifically-named sequence that is otherwise not showing up in the project that it SHOULD be in? I’m in need of that option if it exists. I had a project going that i did a “save as” to and then kept working in that new project (or so i thought), then sent the client a preview from the timeline that had the name of that current sequence…but now i can’t find that sequence in EITHER of those two projects, so somehow i either deleted it or renamed it something else. Oy vey.

thanks for helping out a bonehead!

p.s. and yes, of course, i’ve opened the two projects in question, searched every folder for that sequence, and no dice. Everything is pointing to me deleting it for some reason…OR, it is possible i was inadvertently in another project when i saved it, but i don’t know which one it could be. Ugh. At the worst, it’s probably only about 6 hours of lost time, but i’ll wait a bit to hear from any of you in case you can save me those hours. 🙂

Check the time you exported it (creation date/time)
Compare everything in your auto save folder and find the saved project closest to that time.

Ya, i did that, and unless i’m missing something else on dates and times, etc…i think somehow this sequence got deleted! But i just don’t want to accept that yet as true! ☹ But so far i’m not finding a better explanation.

For future proofing, I’d recommend that you create a folder called “old” inside your sequence folder and whenever you duplicate your sequence put the previous one in that folder. This habit prevents you from deleting any sequences. However, it doesn’t take care of your problem of not knowing which project it lives in.
