Dear friends in moo,

I am having a similar issue and the slug workaround that was suggested in this thread (which seems very cool) is not matching the netmedia calculator (which I am probably not using correctly), so I am asking for your sage advice. I have an HD project that is going to pbs that needs to be mastered as HDCAM 60i. I shot and edited HD 24p. The exact length I need to deliver is 56:46 (but of course). I THINK I need to adjust the film length to 56:42:13. But now I have doubt. Oh, too much doubt. Any takers? I know you all are much smarter than I am, so take the challenge.

I am having the exact same “General Error” problem and am trying desperately to finish a film. What do you mean by motion arrows? If it is easier to explain by phone, please call me at 970-728-6639. I’m a bit overwhelmed by this problem.

Hi Jiggy,

Thanks so much for your response! I figured it out a few hours ago and thought I should share in case someone else runs into the same problem.

It was a short section of the film with photoshop files that was the culprit! I spot checked through the film and found a section that was about 6 seconds long that kept coming up with the same warning when I tried to play it in the timeline. I went into the autosave vault and copied that short section and pieced it together with the rest of the film in a new timeline. Voila! All okay. The export to quicktime worked and it is now happily compressing in compressor. The odd thing is that I hadn’t changed a thing in that section of the film in a long time, so no idea why that one piece became corrupt. Naughty Final Cut.

Wow … Kathmandu. Nice digs you got. I am in Telluride, Colorado, which ain’t so bad either.

Hi Michael,

I am having the same problem that Lilya is having in that lately when I try to export my documentary film (1 hour 20 min) I often get an out of error message part way through the quicktime export. I have about 50 large photos in the program which I think is what is causing the hiccup (I have trashed preferences, restarted, etc.) I am resizing them right now, and was curious as to what you meant by not having them exceed 4k in any dimension. They are currently sized at 5616 x 3744, which seems really excessive, especially since I am not doing any complicated moves on them. I am resizing them to 1920 x 1280, as the project is HD. Will that fulfill the 4k dimension requirement??

Feeling like I am in another dimension,

Thanks so much for your suggestions. All of my audio files were already in aiff … but I just figured out what was the problem in my situation.

I have organized the film in chapters which are on different timelines. Last week, for convenience, I nested them all into one sequence. I was trying to export from the nested sequence, and that was what seems to have been giving me the audio going out of sync problem, because as soon as I copied and pasted all of the sequences into a new timeline with no nesting everything worked fine!

Holy cow, but sometimes you scratch your head a lot (or I guess your nuts, if you’re a guy) and squander a day away! Sorry … sick sense of humor. can’t help myself sometimes, especially after a day of going punch mad.

I am having the exact same problem you are describing. When I make a quicktime of my XDCAM EX1 project the audio is out of sync! I have to Fed Ex the film out today to a festival. Did you ever figure out what is causing this?

Your advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Walter,

I have a screening of an intro to a documentary I am working on in a few days in LA. I have just found out that there will be a BluRay player at the event. My project was shot on Sony PMW-EX1, and my sequence is 1920 x 1080. I would like to burn it in as high quality as possible and still have it play.

It seems, from your post above, that you can now compress for BluRay in Compressor. By “new” Compressor, do you mean beyond 3.0.5? That is what I currently have, and I am not able to find any BluRay options.

Thank you all so much for your input. I did a ProRes 422 compression and am sending it to a dupe house with Kona board. Better to have it look good than jerry-rig it.
