i just saw this posting because i too had the issue. what i found out to be the cause was another clip underneath it on the timeline. once i removed that clip, it worked fine. if there is no clip under on another track, you might try moving the affected clip to another part of the timeline then applying the effect. see if that works. both solutions worked for me.

i see it is not just jittery text but any movement of photos that move in from side to side. i just animated a few report covers that were shot at high quality and brought them in and animated them flying onto the screen. they look ok in AE but once i hit Make Movie then Render it looks jittery. what am i doing wrong.?

cs3- yes i can add to the text. i think i just figured this out. if i just double click and don’t highlight the line with the cursor that seems to work. the jitter is still there. i am moving text across the screen from side to side and even with a de-interlace filter it is terrible.

no..i have a bunch of layers…some video, some text, some stills.
also when the text goes by from right to left it is very jittery. -

yes, i did create a new layer-text.
i also see the character palette..but as i say when i highlight it then go to the palette to make a change nothing happens and the hightlighted text disappears. further thoughts? -
thanks for the reply. so what is the best way to group a whole bunch of layers and have the same effect and timing on each without having to drop the effx on each layer. i didn’t realize the null won’t allow for effects but only rotation, etc.
