I’ll second that Easy Rig. When I first saw one at NAB 2000, I thought it was some goofy Steadi-Cam wanna be. So, I tried one on to see how foolish it felt. BandPro had mine delivered the following Monday.
Oh, and we own a SteadiCam but that thing is too much for my frail little body.

You might try to get an extended warranty for the camera first. But don’t tell anyone that I suggested that.
Last year, I got a call from a Sony rep selling warrantees and I told him that I had a DSR-20 deck in the trash bin. He sold me a warranty for $200 and I sent the deck in. They replaced the head drum and the tape transport and gave me another year warranty. I sold the deck as soon as it came back for $1200 and that was over a year ago. It still works great.
Call your dealer and ask. The Sony repair center makes money on it no matter what.

In wondering about the different units, price dictates quality. The Azden stuff is low priced and there’s a reason for that. The recent stuff is better than the earlier stuff but it’s still prosumer.
Ya kinda get what you pay for (and, you don’t get what you don’t pay for) Funny how that works

Well, this happened to me about 20 years ago when I had a camera running in a balcony. Someone had tripped on the electrical cord and pulled it from the wall. Seeing what they did, they plugged it back in and went on their way. Needless to say, the camera shut down with no power and powered back up when it got plugged in.
The way I knew was that I was shooting the people coming down the isle and recorded the incident on my front camera. Didn’t see it happen at the time but saw it later. The way I knew? I saw the tally light go off when I looked at the tape later.

You’ll either need a pair of systems or you can get a single system like a Zaxcom or maybe Azden makes something less expensive.

I bought my first Lectrosonics 187 wireless kit in 1990 and it still works great.

At this point, they know they got ya. If they dump you tomorrow, so what. They”ll just get the next company to jump in and repeat what you’ve already done.
So, let’s see, can they duplicate the footage you shot for, say, $25k?
What reason do they have to pay you $65k?
I had a client do this to me two years ago. He sweet talked my wife into waiting till the job was done so he could write one check. Then, he told her that the money was in Canada and it would take two weeks to make it into our bank but he needed his infomercial to air so the money could start rolling in. We sued him in June and won a $20k judgement. Guess what, the money is still in Canada and it will always be in Canada. Want to see the footage that he didn’t pay for and we can’t get pulled from the web? http://www.swingjacket.com.
This was only $20k. And, I have all of the original HDCAM tapes.
Note: If I had a written contract, I could have also sued for attorney fees but because we did it on a verbal deal, no such luck. Verbal contracts are legal and binding but they are weak.
