The HVX is the wisest choice because it does what you do now and it CAN do what you will probably need before too long.

You didn’t tell us what you’re producing so we can’t advise you on any of that. I have a client that we do quite a bit of work for and we have a 13 year library of footage for them. They want what we shoot today to match what we did 13 years ago. Talk about pain. Yikes.

As for sending clips to stations, the networks want HDCAM or D5, both very expensive, or they can accept files from DG Fastchannel, which is a distribution company. You upload a file to them and they retransmit it to the stations. Are your stations local or national. You didn’t specify.

Before long. almost all material will go by wire and not tape.

This is fantastic. Their facility will quickly fill with grinders, price shoppers and those who want something for nothing. That will leave the quality minded people for us.

How can you deliver quality product when you know that everybody else is getting more?

There’s always somebody cheaper in the yellow pages.

If the general public bought solely on price, they would all be driving Neons and eating at McDonalds.

You have the wrong input adapter. You need one with two XLR ins and a stereo mini mic level output. See Beachtek for the correct unit. They have refurbished units.

You’ll see classes offered on the P-2 workflow all over the web. I have an on line class for Sony SxS cards.

Here it is but if you read this, you will owe me $295 (cash or PayPal)

    1. Shoot footage to the cards.
    2. When done:
    A. Hook the camera to a computer via USB cable…
    B. Remove the cards and put them into an express card slot or Sony USB reader.
    3. Transfer the files to a computer. 14 minutes for 58 minutes of 1920×1080 footage
    4. Begin editing.
    5. Send me my money.

The EX cameras have a 1/2″ 1920×1080 CMOS chip. Check the specs of your P-2 camera.

If it’s 960×540 on 1/3″ chips, you may want to reconsider.

Get a baseball bat and go to his house at 10pm. Knock on the door with the bat. Tell him that you were in the neighborhood and just wanted to say “Hi” and ask when he’ll be hiring you again. His wife will tell him to pay you.

Keep in mind that before NAB ’08, they had a wild dream that they could sell EX-3s for “under $13,000”. Hmmm. Remember when BetaCam tape was $1 a minute? It’s now $9 for a 30. And, when mini DV came out, a 60 minute tape was $28.

Maybe after they accumulate a warehouse full, they’ll change their mind. I won’t notice because I will hit the Lotto that day on my way to seeing hell freezing over. That’s if I don’t get killed by a flying pig on the way.

    actually:
    24p.shtml’>https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcam/resource.promotions.bbsccms-assets-micro-xdcam-promotions-xdcampdw70024p.shtml

The “software” option is $4,500. What a smokin deal. But after the rebate, we’re only looking at $3k. So, we’re going from 30p to only 24p and we have to pay more? Seems like is ought to be 20% off the retail price, not more. bummer
