It could be that you have long handles on your clips. When shooting time of day, one must always be careful to roll 8 seconds before saying “Speed”. We just had a similar situation where our script person grabbed time code at the beginning of the roll and our editor simply transferred the numbers directly into the edl. When he couldn’t get any edits to work, I suggested that he go in a manually add 5 seconds to every start point of in point. This worked. When the edit machine goes to the start of the clip, it rolls the tape back around 5 seconds before starting capture. It the TC is from the preceding clip, recorded earlier without consecutive TC, the edit machine will spit the edit out.
If this doesn’t fix it, your probably in big trouble. Good luck.

Take Shane’s advice. Only a fool would use a camera as a tape deck. Also, the levels are usually enhanced on camera output.

Buy a fireproof safe. The warehouse stores sell them (gun safes) for around $500. This is less than if you were to lose one master file.
But do what the other guys said first, and then, put it in a safe. The off-site thing is great but entirely unnecessary.

Ours has been “on the way” for about three weeks. I imagine BMD had a pretty serious backlog of orders to fill. We are also still waiting for our fiber channel card from Apple that is two weeks overdue.
After all, it can’t all be ready on the same day.

Had they done what they said, everything would have been just fine. They switched planes on us at the last minute and there was NO cargo space inside. And, don’t think I gave it up without a thorough assurance by the airline person that they “have done it a thousand times”.What crap!
