And…You probably ought to sign up for prepaid legal and go get a consultation.

In my previous post, I was not condoning the actions of your boss, just hinting that you need to not be blasting this stuff on to the web.

Your boss made a mistake, regardless of whether he knew it was illegal or not but that is his problem. He needed to just hand you the overtime pay and act like you had it coming all along. He is probably as dumb as you are.

Several years ago, a local company produced some spots for a political campaign and the editor neglected to include the “Paid for by …..” at the bottom of the screen. The campaign was fined somewhere around $25,000 for that. It was on the work order and the campaign came after the production company to recoup their money.

Aaron. I cannot believe how you put this stuff out on the internet. You just ratted out everyone involved and could send the hand that feeds you to jail.

And this isn’t the first time you have dragged us into your self generated problems.

If I were your boss, I would fire you and then kick your ass.

    Are you completely insane?

If your friend is tired of the client calling him to do paying work, he should immediately tell them “No thanks”.

That will stop the phone from doing all that silly ringing.

Ever heard the phrase “shoot yourself in the foot”?

We hand it all over immediately, and always have. I don’t care what the law says. They paid for it. It’s theirs.

However, if you record the images and sound on your media, do they have the rights to that media?

I am guilty of this quite often.

I tried to type GUILTY in the subject line but Ron wouldn’t allow me to.

That 503 head will work fine and the stix are probably what you need for your application. Go to a local camera store and examine the leg locks. You want durable flip locks, nothing that you have to turn.

The most important thing is the size and weight. We shoot on a Sachtler head and stix at home but this is not what I have on a sling when I’m getting on a plane. My travel unit is a 503 on 3021 stix. It has to fit in the overhead. And, I can flip the locks with gloves on.

  • There is a huge deduction available for 2009. You can take a one-time deduction of up to $250,000. The van could fall into this catagory.

  • the IRS has a special set of rules for the production business. About 15 or 20 years ago, ITVA sat down with the IRS and hashed out a special set of rules that incorporated our freelancers, food expense (we get a full deduction for “catering” and “craft services” where no other industry gets that.

But now, your all probably going to ask me to prove that. I’ll give it a shot.
