Yes. Kona is set that way, as well as the video playback in fcp.

Shane, hope you can give me some of your expertise. I too have received some P2 footage (I do have the raw MXF files). It was shot 720p24 (24 over 60) so NOT 24pn.
When I do the log & transfer I have “Remove Advanced Pulldown” CHECKED. What comes in is a 720p24 DVCProHD file (GREAT!). However when I playback that file in FCP through my kona onto my pano reference lcd the video is choppy / jerky and the audio is out of sync.
I’ve done this procedure 1,000’s of times but it seems this issue is creeping up all of sudden. Any insight you have?

Ya I only see the delay on that first preview you do after launching AE….but sometimes for some reason on my system it will have to relaunch the AERender processes for some reason. But i just now updated to 8.0.2 so we’ll see.

Try looking at your AE preferences under “Multiprocessing” and see if “Render Multiple Frame Simultaneously” is checked. If it is, when you first do a ram preview it will initialize 8 processes ( for your 8 core machine ) then start rendering your ram preview…sometimes this takes a few seconds ( ~20 seconds maybe ). For instant ram previews turn off this setting.
I have the same system and noticed the exact same thing you’re seeing….although I found the little wait upfront more than made up for the speed increase on longer more complex comps. But your mileage may vary.
