Try importing the Maya sequence, then dropping it onto the New Comp button at the bottom of the Preview window. This will create a Comp with the same settings as the sequence.

What are the differences between this comp and the ugly comp?

  • Hi!

    (does that count?)

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes. I’ll drop by when I have something useful to add.

Or maybe I’ll just tell someone to search the COW, for old times’ sake.

    Cheers!
    Steve

  • Welcome, Kevin! K&R made the right choice.

According to Glenn Stewart in a COW post:

Open the preferences file in a text editor, in 6 they added the line

“Play sound when render finishes” = “1”

just change the 1 to 0 and your done!!

  • Anyway, try 23.976, which is correct:

    30fps X .8 = 24fps
    29.97fps X .8 = 23.976

By the way, “bake” is generally used by 3D folk when fixing a texture or other effect in the 3D app so it doesn’t have to be recalculated on every frame. AE’s equivalent might be “pre-render”.

You wouldn’t need a lot of irregular masks, maybe 1 per second …?

You could also use the Gradient Wipe effect, with the gradient being a distorted circular Ramp of some kind. Don’t forget to precompose the layer you use as the Gradient.

Yep, it seems closed. However, Jeff Almasol is currently at Adobe … but still writing scripts.

Hmph. Unless I’m mistaken, you should be able to open HDV on your computer. I suspect the editing staff messed up.

Once an edit shop gave me a D1 interlaced clip, but not before scaling it up to 720×540, presumably because graphics guys like me always work in 540. Especially when it’s interlaced. Right.

However, since that’s not a very useful reply, have you looked into HDVxDV?

    You mean 1080/60, right?

Where did the footage come from? Another editor? Which camera? Proprietary codec, Canon maybe?
Can anybody else in your team open it?
If so, can they convert it to another codec such as PNG or Photo-JPEG?
