Since AE is ostensibly more complex than Premiere (or whatever), AE project files cannot be imported into Premiere. You need to render them as video clips, then go into Premiere and import the clips.

Just deselect “from current time” in the Time Controls Palette. I rarely use “from current time” myself.

Are you sure about the PAR for NTSC widescreen? I thought it was 1.2, and that for NTSC standard it was 10/11 or .91.

There are a few ways:

1. Dupe (cmd-D or ctrl-D) the layer, leaving the dupe selected, then alt-drag (opt-drag) the new layer from the project window to the dupe layer. The dupe layer will be replaced, but its keyframes and effects will be left intact. This doesn’t work with text layers.

2. Copy the effects from the old layer’s effects palette, select the new layer and paste. Not all settings will survive the paste — so check.

3. Select the effect keyframes from the old layer, copy and paste to the new layer.

4. Select the old layer’s animated properties (select the property names in the timeline), then animation>save preset, name it and save it. Next select the new layer, and animation>apply recent preset — the one you just made.

That should get you going — option 1 might be the first to try.

Hmm … here’s what I know, anyway:

1. AE likes QT audio MOVs fine.
2. AE actually doesn’t do well with MP3 files — they should be converted to AIFF or WAV using QT or another utility.
3. The difference between AE on the two platforms is negligible — I can only recall that AE Mac can’t render Windows Media as well, so plaform incomptability is unlikely.

Did you have the little speaker button on for the audio layer in the timeline?
If you tried a RAM preview, did you switch on the audio speaker button in the time controls palette?
Did you actually render audio? Check the output module settings in the render queue.
Which book, which exercise, which page? Just so those at home can play along … 🙂

If you’re looking for work as an art director, you may be asked a few questions.

Such as … have you ever led a team? Have you ever hired other designers and coordinated the efforts of specialists? What kind of projects did you “Art Direct”? How big were they? Can you assemble a team for the job on the table? Have you ever held the position of Art Director within an organization?

I think that the title implies not only artistic skill, but team-leading experience, hence the term “director”. If you don’t have that experience, you’re more like a “designer”, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
